Maria Kyriacou, head of our firm’s Nicosia office, was among the distinguished panel of international experts presenting the latest developments in the legal framework relating to the energy sector in the eastern Mediterranean region at the East Mediterranean Energy Law Forum, which took place on 8 December 2017 in Athens. The event was organised under the auspices of the Greek Ministry of Environment and Energy and its hydrocarbons resources management company.
Maria has long experience in the energy market, covering not only licensing procedures for hydrocarbons exploration and production, but also the renewable energy sector and the liberalisation of the electricity production and distribution market. Her presentation consisted of an overview of Cyprus legislation in the hydrocarbons sector, an analysis of the Cyprus model exploration and production sharing contract and a summary of progress to date in the Cyprus offshore licensing rounds.
