The Legal 500 2022 Greece and Cyprus General Counsel Powerlist (GC Powerlist) was recently published highlighting the most influential in-house legal counsel and teams in business in Greece & Cyprus. Elias Neocleous & Co LLC frequently works in close cooperation with several of the individuals and teams listed.
We have been extremely impressed by the manner in which they operate and specifically how they have faced the challenges posed by the Covid 19 epidemic and the war in Ukraine. It therefore gave us immense pleasure to co-sponsor, with KLC Law Firm (Greece), the Legal 500 reception held to honour those included in the 2022 GC Powerlist.
The event took place on the 22nd September at the Stavros Niarchos Park in Athens with many leading in-house lawyers in attendance from various sectors of the economy including retail, banking, pharmaceutical, real estate, energy, shipping and technology. Representing Elias Neocleous & Co LLC were Elias Neocleous, Andrea Kallis Parparinou, Vassilis Psyrras and George Tsardellis.
In his address to the assembled company, Managing Director, Elias Neocleous, praised the vital role that in-house counsel play within their organisations and congratulated all those who had been included in the 2022 GC Powerlist, noting that Legal500 conducted extensive research and performance analysis on all candidates with only the most impressive being selected for inclusion. He then highlighted how the increase of regulatory demands and the growing emphasis on efficiency, including the digitization of systems and infrastructures, is likely to increase both the stresses of the in-house role and the importance of ‘getting it right’. He closed by acknowledging the difficult balance that in-house teams are called to strike as they are called to enforce rigorous legal compliance whilst remaining commercially aware of their companies’ needs.
