Elias Neocleous & Co LLC is proud to announce that Partner Nicolas Tsardellis has been elected Chair of the Finance Committee of the Council of Bars and Law Societies of Europe (CCBE).
The election took place during the CCBE Plenary Session, held in Ljubljana, Slovenia, from 27 to 29 May 2026, with representatives from bar associations and law societies across Europe in attendance.
Mr Tsardellis’ election marks a significant milestone for Cyprus, as it is the first time that a Cypriot lawyer has been elected to such a senior position within the CCBE. His election reflects both his longstanding contribution to the legal profession and the growing recognition of Cyprus within the European legal community.
The CCBE Finance Committee holds a particularly important role within the organisation. Notably, its Chair is the only committee chair elected directly by all member delegations, rather than appointed, underlining the confidence placed in our Partner by European bar associations and law societies.
As Chair of the Finance Committee, Mr Tsardellis will contribute to the governance and strategic development of the CCBE, which represents more than one million European lawyers and plays a key role in shaping legal policy and professional standards across Europe.
The CCBE Plenary Session also addressed several key issues affecting the European legal profession.
