Biography
George is a seasoned litigation lawyer specialising in civil and commercial dispute resolution. He has a broad and sophisticated trial and appellate practice, advising and representing high-net-worth individuals, multinational corporations, financial institutions and private clients in complex, high-value disputes across multiple sectors.
His practice focuses on corporate and commercial litigation, including shareholder and partnership disputes, contractual claims, banking and finance litigation, real estate disputes, estate and probate matters, intellectual property (including patent and copyright) and torts. George has extensive experience handling complex and highly contested proceedings, often involving cross-border elements and multi-million-euro claims.
He is particularly recognised for his expertise in urgent and interim relief. He regularly advises on and appears in applications for freezing injunctions, receivership orders, Anton Piller orders, Norwich Pharmacal orders and other forms of injunctive and protective relief, including ex parte applications in high-stakes cases.
George has been involved in significant and high-profile litigation, including acting in disputes involving international parties and parallel proceedings across multiple jurisdictions.
In addition to his commercial litigation practice, George is actively engaged in employment law and dispute resolution. He advises and represents both employers and employees in litigation and alternative dispute resolution proceedings, including mediations and negotiations with government
Relevant Experience
- Advised high net-worth individuals and corporations and represented them in court in multi-million commercial disputes, including complex shareholder disputes.
- Handled complex and highly contested cases, including matters related to family law, contract law, employment law and rent control.
- Assisted in interim procedures involving creditors and the owner of a collapsed Russian bank, resulting in the withdrawal of a half-billion euro claim.
- Successfully defended against an application for the recognition, registration and enforcement of Russian and UK court judgments, as well as an application for a preliminary ruling to the European Court of Justice, in a €250 million case involving a prominent Russian individual.
- Successfully represented an indefinite-term employee before the Employment Tribunal in a landmark case establishing, for the first time, comparability between indefinite-term public sector employees and permanent civil servants under Council Directive .
- Advised and handled statutory consultations on behalf of hotel-owner clients, engaging with trade unions acting for approximately 190 employees, in connection with redundancies following the hotel’s closure, leading to a successful outcome.
- Advised the largest gambling company in Cyprus in relation to its cooperation with its network of retail outlets across the country.
- Advised a major international pharmaceutical company on the protection of its products in Cyprus from a patent and copyright law perspective, including available litigation procedures in cases of infringement by third parties
- Former Judge of the Appeals Court of the Cyprus Basketball Federation (2022–2025)
