Growing With the Firm
At Elias Neocleous & Co LLC, professional growth is shaped through experience, mentorship and opportunity. The stories below highlight the career journeys of three lawyers who have progressed within the firm, reflecting our commitment to developing talent and supporting long-term success.
I joined the firm at a relatively early stage of my career, having accumulated five years of post-qualification experience, primarily in litigation. At the firm, I had the opportunity to specialise in corporate and commercial law, progressing from a Senior Associate role to my current position as Partner. Throughout this journey, what has stood out most is the level of trust and responsibility placed in me from an early stage. I was given exposure to complex, high-value matters and encouraged to take ownership, which significantly accelerated my professional development.
Equally important has been the collaborative environment and the support of colleagues and leadership, who have consistently challenged me to think critically, develop commercially, and build strong client relationships. The firm's openness to initiative also allowed me to contribute beyond my core legal work, including mentoring junior lawyers and playing a role in strategic development.
Like any career path, there were challenges — managing increasing responsibility, navigating demanding transactions, and balancing technical excellence with client expectations. These experiences were instrumental in shaping my resilience, judgment, and leadership approach.
Growth comes from being trusted with responsibility, supported by a team that challenges you to continuously evolve.
I joined our legacy firm in 2009 having worked in a large City firm in London at the beginning of my professional journey. From the outset, I was given exposure to complex local and cross-border matters, working alongside experienced colleagues and learning directly from some of the leading practitioners in the Cyprus legal market and applying the skills I honed in London. That early responsibility helped me build confidence quickly and develop both technical expertise and commercial awareness.
Over the years, my role expanded steadily. I progressed from associate to senior associate, taking on increasingly demanding client work, leading transactions and building long-term relationships with international clients. When the firm transitioned to Elias Neocleous & Co LLC in 2017, I continued that path of development, benefiting from the firm's culture of support, trust and opportunity. Today I am a partner and I am recognised internationally for my work in corporate law by inter alia Legal 500 and IFLR.
I believe that the greatest contributors to my progression were the opportunities I was given, the confidence shown in me by senior colleagues, and the breadth of experience I gained through challenging assignments in Cyprus and the City of London. One of the biggest challenges was learning to manage increasing responsibility and managing a team while maintaining the highest standards of service and attention to detail. Those experiences ultimately shaped me into the lawyer and team leader I am today.
This firm gives talented people real opportunities to grow at each step of the career. If you are willing to work hard, take responsibility and keep learning, the possibilities are enormous.
After graduating with an LLB from the University of Surrey in 2010, supported by a full three-year scholarship, I went on to pursue an LLM in International Commercial Law at Cardiff University, which I completed in 2011. I was admitted to the Cyprus Bar in 2012, marking the beginning of my professional journey with the firm.
I joined the firm as a trainee and have progressed organically through the ranks to my current position as Counsel. This path reflects not only personal dedication, but also the firm's long-standing commitment to investing in its people and recognising human capital as its most valuable asset. Throughout the years, I have been fortunate to be recognised as a "Rising Star" in leading legal directories, a distinction that underscores both individual effort and the supportive and forward-looking environment fostered within the firm.
Like any meaningful career, this journey has not been without its challenges. Adapting to the demands of practice in the early years, managing increasing levels of responsibility, and navigating complex and evolving client needs required resilience, discipline and continuous learning. These experiences played a pivotal role in shaping both my professional judgment and my approach to problem-solving.
What has defined my journey is the opportunity to grow within a structure that actively supports ambition, innovation and continuous development. From an early stage, I was encouraged to pursue further qualifications, contribute to business development initiatives, and share ideas that help shape the firm's evolving and innovative approach. This culture of inclusion and progress has allowed me to develop not only as a lawyer, but also as a professional with a broader perspective on the legal and commercial landscape.
A particularly meaningful aspect of this progression has been the transition from trainee to mentor. Having started my career under the guidance of experienced practitioners, I now play an active role in training and supervising the next generation of lawyers. This full-circle experience reflects the firm's ethos of continuity and knowledge-sharing, as well as its commitment to long-term development.
My journey stands as a testament to what can be achieved in an environment that aligns individual aspirations with collective success — where young professionals are supported in building a career path that evolves into leadership, responsibility and meaningful contribution.
Resilience drives progression.
