Biography

Adonis has qualified as a lawyer in 2021 and focuses on advising high net worth individuals and institutions on international trusts, banking and finance, and corporate matters. He is accredited as a Trust and Estate Practitioner (TEP) by the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners. His practice centres on complex, multi-jurisdictional trust structures, where he advises on structuring, governance, fiduciary duties, regulatory compliance, and contentious matters. In this context, he works closely with trustees, beneficiaries, protectors, family offices and institutional clients whose clientele includes trust arrangements. In parallel, Adonis advises on a broad spectrum of corporate and finance matters, while overseeing a substantial portfolio of locally and internationally established companies. His work includes corporate structuring and transactions, cross-border mergers and acquisitions, debt financing, and corporate governance, with particular experience in matters relating to Cyprus International Trusts.

  • Advised on the private placement of a multi million bond by a Cypriot company through a banking institution in Greece, involving security over private islands and a corporate guarantee from an underlying trust structure with assets valued in the billions of US dollars.
  • Advised on the cross-border restructuring of a major US based international real estate group, involving assets and debt instruments held through Cyprus structures.
  • Advised on the re-domiciliation of a large group of companies from Luxembourg to Cyprus, involving structures holding high value intellectual property, debt instruments, and immovable property across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Advised on the acquisition of a strategic asset by a Cyprus based international multimedia enterprise, including high value commercial arrangements with globally established digital platforms such as YouTube.
  • Advised on the high-profile sale of a prime luxury villa in Lake Como held through a Cyprus company, in close coordination with Italian counsel.
  • Advised a leading US based international cruise line enterprise on the acquisition and development of commercial property in Greece through a Cyprus holding structure.
  • Advised Cypriot trustees in relation to high profile US proceedings concerning trust investments held in the United States, including disputes with investment managers.
  • Advised Cypriot trustees, in coordination with UK counsel, on a ten-year UK inheritance tax review of a Cyprus International Trust structure holding UK real estate.
  • Advised on the strategic structuring of investments for a high-net-worth Eastern European individual through Cyprus trust structures, addressing succession planning for a large and established supermarket chain.
  • Advised Cypriot trustees, in coordination with foreign counsel, on the establishment of a special purpose vehicle and the granting of security over a multi jurisdictional artwork portfolio in connection with a secured financing of up to USD 31 million with an international lender.
  • Regularly advises international banking institutions with a presence in Cyprus on access to information relating to client trust structures and third parties, as well as associated regulatory and client related matters.
  • Regularly advises on complex corporate governance matters, with a particular focus on Cyprus limited liability companies across a range of structures and jurisdictions.
